For many years ETC has advocated for trail fencing along Rancho Santa Fe Road. A few years ago the City of Encinitas secured a grant to fund this fencing. During this last week in June 2025 a section of trail fencing was installed. The new fence starts at Lone Jack Road in Olivenhain and continues North ending just short of 13th Street. This will facilitate safer paths to school and creates a visible and physical barrier between the road, pedestrians and equestrians who use the trail.
